I remember my struggle as a teenager trying to reconcile my religious faith with my interest in psychology and clinical work. With a deep sense of calling to ministry, I found just the right balance in the profession of pastoral counseling which integrated theology with psychotherapy. That preparatory journey took through an undergraduate degree in psychology and two seminary degrees along with two years of hospital-based internships. I emerged as director of a counseling training program under the auspices of the pastoral care department of a large hospital system in San Antonio. Then, as Clinical Director of a non-profit faith-based counseling and education center, and eventually into private practice. Along the way, a few unexpected turns took me in directions I had no way of imagining years before as I began this sojourn. I was recruited to teach in a local master-level counseling program. Secondly, I was introduced to the field of neurofeedback by a colleague. The two field converged when I was asked to start a neurofeedback training program in the master and doctoral counseling program at a local state university. Looking back over these 24 years of teaching, 14 years of directing a neurofeedback program, and 15 years of private practice, I can only say is that it is Providence.
